Course - Food Play: Resources for family breakfasts, snacks and treats by Bon Aprofit

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION

Healthy, seasonal, colour-filled recipes that turn into edible games.

A course for parents who want to discover new ways of offering healthy food to their children, turning breakfast, snack time and treats into moments of discovery, imagination and pleasure. Across two workshops we'll learn to make simple, nutritious, tasty recipes from local, organic, seasonal produce, and explore how to transform them into colours, shapes, textures and edible pieces that children can handle, combine and build while they eat.

Colour will be one of the great protagonists: we'll use fruit, vegetables, seeds, nuts and other natural ingredients to create creams, toppings, powders and shapes that give recipes a new dimension. A crêpe can become a canvas to paint on, cookies or fruit can become pieces to build with, and a simple bowl can become a small universe to explore.

We'll work mainly with local, organic produce, discovering the diversity of fruit and vegetables each season offers and making the most of their characteristics to create new combinations suited to each family's tastes and needs.

The two workshops form a complete, complementary journey: each one focuses on a different type of proposal, so that together they cover all the food design resources for family breakfasts and snacks all year round.

  • Session 1: Colour, energy and balance: seasonal bowls, smoothies, small energy bites and creative toasts, with sweet and savoury combinations. Colour as the star of balanced breakfasts and snacks.
  • Session 2: Shapes, textures and creativity: crêpes, waffles and edible pieces, creams, dips and snacks, and homemade treats such as cakes and cookies. Food you can play with, handle and combine.
